One Grumpy boy!

The past few weeks have just flown by! They seem the farthest thing from flying by in the moment but looking back they have. Somehow my sweet easy going baby boy has turned into quite the demanding child! I'm not sure if Asher is teething or has just become high maintenance... but either way he is sure a handful! Thank goodness he's as cute as he is!

Asher had his 4 month check-up a couple of weeks ago (we had to delay it a bit due to him being sick). He was 24 inches long, which is the 10th percentile... 14 pounds 10 ounces, which is the 55th percentile. So in other words he is short and chubby :) Everything went well at his appointment, the Dr. said he is early with his rolling over.

Gavin has been quite the trooper putting up with Asher demanding the majority of the attention. It is hard trying to split the attention between the two boys and make sure Gavin isn't feeling forgotten. I am working to set aside special time to spend with only him. Gavin started Karate last week and he LOVE'S it! He is on a kick right now where he asks "why?" to just about everything! Last night Mike showed him the time to let Gavin know it was 5 minutes past bed time and Gavin said " It's a little past... I guess we'll have to wait for the next one". He is hilarious!

Last night Asher had his first non-grandma baby-sitter. Two of my good friends offered to watch both boys so Mike and I could have a date night. So we went bowling and out for Indian food. It was absolutely wonderful to have time alone together!

Life is busy and repetitive but I wouldn't trade it! Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Asher grows out of the grumpy's very soon!

Well it has been awhile since I have had the chance to post anything. The past couple of weeks have been exhausting and long! Gavin came down sick first. It was his first "real" illness... a temp. of 104 and a horrible cough. But even being so sick it was near impossible to get him to slow down and rest.

Then Gavin shared his germs (as siblings do), with Asher. Asher came down with the same cough which turned into RSV. We took him to a emergency room, urgent care and the pediatrician before finally taking him up to Seattle Children's Hospital where they helped explain the situation and calm our nerves :) Watching the little guy working so hard to breathe was a scary experience.

Over the last few days all illness seems to be resolved and we are working at getting Asher back on a schedule! Gavin had his birthday party on Sunday at the Little Gym. Most of his class was there and he had a blast! Four is such a fabulous age, they just have so much to say!

Asher has become a rolling over machine! He is constantly rolling from his back to his tummy, but once there he is stuck and frustrated... so we are very busy rolling him back over :) He is a little man on the move now.

Gavin's 4th Birthday

Gavin celebrated his 4th birthday on New Years Eve. He told us "I can't believe it I'm 4". Mimi picked up a delicious Coldstone Creamery Cake, which we were all excited about!

We took Gavin to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate. His party with his friends isn't until mid January. He misses his friends from school so much.

It was a very fun day for all of us. It is so hard to believe my little guy is 4, and now a new year has begun. What a wonderful year 2008 was, it is hard to imagine what 2009 may bring!

White Christmas

Well Christmas 2008 has come and gone. It was me and Mike's first Christmas married, and Asher's very first Christmas. We had a wonderful holiday! The weather kept us from our usual large family gathering, but we had a nice quiet celebration. I am so very blessed to have such a wonderful little family!

The boys in their matching shirts!
Me and Gavin with the ornament he made for me at school. I can't believe my little boy will be four in just a few days!

Daddy helping open his stocking. Asher looks just like a little Mike!

Asher and daddy on Christmas morning. I loved watching the new little guy at his first Christmas.

Well this Christmas was a rare white Christmas in Seattle (very white!). We had about a foot of snow on the ground, which left us snowed in for Christmas.

Gavin decorated cookies for Santa. He wanted Santa to have four cookies so that he would have "a big belly like Papa"

All snowed in!

We have had some crazy weather the past week! It has been a long 8 or 9 days of ice, snow and freezing rain. Today is the warmest of the recent days heating up to the low 30's! Being snowed in the week before Christmas has been a little stressful, there is just so much to be done! Gavin went outside this morning to help Papa "shuffle" the snow in the driveway.

There is no going anywhere for me and the boys. Mike drove up to Everett last night and stayed in a hotel so that he could make it to work. But his hotel was at the bottom of a hill which he was unable to drive up this morning! So luckily a man in a hummer stopped and gave him a ride the rest of the mile or so to Boeing. We are both hoping he is able to make it home!

I think Gavin has had just about enough of the snow!

It was so nice to have Mike home for a couple days. Asher is getting to be quite a big boy!

Boy is it COLD!

I think I am going a bit stir crazy. The weather has kept us in the house most of this week. Gavin's school has been canceled every day which leaves him with tons of energy! We did get out on Monday to take Asher to his Audiology appointment. It is such a tough appointment for both me and him. He has to be sleeping, which is not something he does much of during the day and definitely not on demand! Thankfully after awhile he did fall asleep, but then it is a nearly 2 hour test with me holding him on my lap... it is just not an enjoyable experience. But I'm am very grateful to have the test over with and the results were much better than expected. His left ear, which is the larger of the two, has normal hearing! His right ear is nearly normal and they are hopeful as it grows like the left did his hearing will be completely normal!

In other news, we finally got our Christmas tree! It is all decorated and ready for Santa! Christmas really feels like it snuck up on me this year. Mike and I finished our shopping tonight, so regardless of the weather we should be all set.

Tomorrow is supposed to be Gavin's Christmas performance at school so I am hoping the weather can hold!

Asher is now reaching and grabbing toys. He put this bracelet on himself!

Santa Brunch

Today we went to a Santa Brunch at my nana's country club. Gavin was so excited to see Santa... that is until he saw him :) There was an elf making balloon animals and Gavin asked for a blue and green Spiderman of course!
While Gavin was nervous of both Santa and Rudolph, Asher was infatuated with Rudolph's flashing nose! I am fairly certain that Rudolph was Asher's most favorite part of the brunch.

They had several arts and crafts for the kids too do. This is Gavin making a Gingerbread house... I think it all may have been a bit overwhelming judging by the look in his eyes :) But he had a great time, he is a craft loving sort of kid!
We had a blast and along with the snow we received last night and today it has helped it feel a bit more like the Christmas season. I love Christmas and it is even more wonderful watching my boys love Christmas!
